Fast food restaurant chain Burger King is keen to fortify its presence across London through franchising. Presently, Burger King has 40 restaurants running across London including North Street, Queensway, Earls Court Road, The Broadway, Tottenham Court Road, Euston Road among others. All the outlets are independently owned and operated by franchisees.   According to Borja Hernandez, Vice President and General Manager, Burger King North Europe, Russia, Middle East and Africa, “The UK continues to be one of the largest and the most important markets for Burger King brand in Europe. We see great opportunity for development and growth in densely populated areas including London.” About the requirements of owning Burger King franchise, Hernandez further adds, “The average specifications of a Burger King restaurant vary based on the format including, food court, stand alone, drive-thru and so forth.”

A global chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, Burger King was founded by James McLamore in 1954. It is famous for its The Whopper Sandwich that completed 50 years in 2007. 3G Capital, a global investment firm, purchased Burger King Corporation making it a privately held company in 2010. With its headquarter incorporated in Miami-Dade Country, Florida, United States, Burger King has adopted the franchise business model to expand its operations globally.
