London gets the taste of German Doner Kebab

A fast food chain, German Doner Kebab (GDK) opened its first UK franchise store in Birmingham. After opening over 20 stores in the last two years in UAE and surrounding countries, the brand has now been brought to the UK. The brand is aiming at beefing up its UK presence by adding three new franchisee-run stores in London within the next twelve weeks. In the next two years, GDK has plans to take its store count to 40.

Kamshad Zadeh, Managing Director, GDK Europe said, "We will open a flagship store at Fulham Broadway in eight weeks. Other than that our franchisees are about to open three more outlets within the next 12 weeks in London, with the first one to open in two weeks in Ilford. All in all, our roll out looks at 40 stores within two years - before opening the first outlet today. We serve both beef and chicken and all meat is imported from our German production directly. This is the main reason why our meat is different to the rest of the UK, we are producing the meat ourselves in highest quality."

Established in 1989, German Doner Kebab started its operation in Berlin, Germany. Doner kebab dates back to the Turkish dish made of meat cooked on a vertical rotisserie, normally lamb but also a mixture of veal or beef, and/or sometimes chicken. In 2014, the brand expanded massively with doubling and tripling its store count in Abu Dhabi and Dubai respectively. Malaysian government has agreed to franchise GDK outlets across the country.
