MobiKwik ties up with WHSmith India to allow mobile payments at retail stores

WHSmith India has joined hands with MobiKwik, a mobile payment firm to facilitate mobile transactions at physical stores. WHSmith is one of the leading British retailers, who operates a chain of high street, railway station, airport, hospital and motorway service station shops selling books, stationery, magazines, newspapers and entertainment products. WHSmith India has presence in high footfall areas such as airports, metro stations and hospitals across New Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Haryana, Kerela among others.
MobiKwick has a target to create India's largest independent payments network with 100 million digitally paying users and two lakh retailers by the end of 2015. Currently, MobiKwik enables payment across 50,000 retailers. Bipin Preet Singh, Founder and Chief Executive, MobiKwik said, “Mobile payment has considerable potential to disrupt Indian retail and we aim to create many more such partnerships for mobile wallets to replace cash and cards.
